Breakfast Berry Smoothie Bowl

If you have EVER taken a peek at my Instagram (@kennedypm), you will be well aware of my love for smoothie bowls. I tend to alternate between smoothie bowls & my Chia Seed “PB&J” Parfait for breakfast in the morning, but this combo is my number one. It’s chocked full of antioxidants from the berries, and contains all the things that make an ideal breakfast: protein, fat, carbohydrate & fiber. The frozen banana makes it super creamy, the nut butter is a great punch of natural fats & richness, and the flax seeds are perfect for getting some good fiber in there at the start of your day. And the end result makes for some perfectly Instagram-able pictures. 😉


frozen berries (1 cup; organic mixed berries, blueberries or whatever you like)

frozen banana (broken up in pieces; the frozen quality gives it a super thick, ice-cream texture & I highly recommend it, but it doesn’t have to be frozen)

nut butter (1 tbsp; I use sunflower seed butter)

nut milk (~1 cup, more or less depending on desired thickness; unsweetened)

vanilla protein powder (1 serving; I use this paleo brand)

ground flax seeds (1 heaping tbsp)


grass-fed kefir (~1/3 cup; a great option to add for gut health benefits if you can tolerate dairy!)

maca powder (1 tsp; great for an extra burst of energy)

cacao nibs (1 tbsp)


  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend. Add more nut milk if you’re having trouble blending or prefer it thinner, but a thick, ice-cream consistency is my favorite.
  2. Pour into a bowl (or glass) and add your favorite toppings! My go-to’s are coconut flakes, hemp seeds, cacao nibs, fresh berries or a drizzle of nut butter.
